Hero Headlines: Safe, Valued, and Respected!

Safe. Respectful. Responsible.

Greetings, Meadow Brook Partners!

As we celebrate and honor our country’s veterans I couldn’t be more proud of our Meadow Brook students, staff, and families in the way we shared our hearts with those among us who have served, and continue to serve in the military services of the United States of America!

Thank you to our incredible PTA and the parent/teacher team who put together our wonderful Veterans’ Day Event on Friday!

What a meaningful reminder of the freedoms we each enjoy living in this great country of ours, and the sacrifices that our brave military heroes make so that we can!

At Meadow Brook and throughout Rochester Community School we have a respect code that insists each of us make sure we are all safe, valued, and respected.

Thank you Veterans’ for learning the way with bravery and honor, and thank you Meadow Brook Heroes for your partnership in making sure that we live up to that code each day!

In it together for the kids!

Wishing you a joyful weekend,

Seth

MBE School Improvement Plan (SIP) Hero Happening: Nurturing Our Love For Reading!

This past Saturday a group of Meadow Brook educators (and friends) attended the Colby Sharp event at Oakland Schools sponsored by the Oakland County Reading Council.

Colby Sharp shared his new book “Game Changer,” co-written with Donalyn Miller, focusing on student engagement with books and getting books into the hands of all our students!

(Back Row) Jill West, Rachel Reeves, Colby Sharp, Paige Davis, Alysia Beier, Liz Schroeck, Coleen Mestdagh, Marisa Jakubiak, (Front Row) Jen Lovell, Lynnette Teller, Mandy Lyons

Some take aways to enhance our kids love for reading:

  • Discover kids’ interests – whatever they are!
  • Get books in kids hands – whatever they like!
  • Make reading fun and exciting – always joyful!
  • Make reading your world – reading should be like breathing!
  • Read across the curriculum – Read, Read, Read!
  • Charting your journey can help you help your kids along their…what’s your reading life like – how did it start for you and how did it progress?

Thank you to our incredible PTA for supporting our School Improvement Plan by providing funding for this and many more adult learning opportunities!

Thank you to our incredible staff for being leaders in learning!

You are all Meadow Brook Heroes!

Keep up the great work on behalf of our kids’ safe and joyful learning and growth!

Stay tuned for more on our School Improvement Efforts.

Hero Headlines: Joy At The Center Of It All!

Safe. Respectful. Responsible.

Greeting, Meadow Brook Parnters!

This week was jam packed with learning and fun!

Meadow Brook heroes came together to celebrate Kindergarten Readers as they marched through our hallways with pride!

We cheered our kindergarten readers on and marveled at their love of books, and their amazing ability to explore and discover through reading!

We followed up on an energized and spooky “Trunk or Treat event with some enthusiastic Halloween parading and parties at school!

To cap off the week, a group of parents and teachers got together to create this wonderful centerpiece for our “Innovator’s Mindset” district-wide PD Day next week:

If you notice, our caped Meadow Mouse is proudly and joyfully surrounded by the words and phrases:

  • Student Centered
  • Optimistic
  • Partnership Enhanced
  • Growth
  • Gratitude
  • Kindness

…and our heroic mascot is hovering above the words “Be A Meadow Brook Hero!”

Great, creative, innovative thinking team!  Well done!

When I look at the pictures from this week I see a group of dedicate, caring kids, educators, and parents, gathered together in a wonderful school community with the common goal of safe learning and fun!

When I reflect on this week I see clearly whey spending my days at Meadow Brook Elementary school has me feeling like the most fortunate principal in the world!

This week I am compelled to doubly offer you my sincere appreciation for your incredible partnership!

Thank you all for being the Meadow Brook Heroes you are!

Thank you for remembering that the joy on the faces of the kids, and the adults in the pictures above is the very reason we do when we do!

Thank you for your patience and your partnership…in it together for the kids!

Wishing you a joyful weekend!
