At the May general meeting next year’s PTA board was elected. However, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and volunteer for both big and small jobs. No prior PTA experience is necessary to serve in these positions; you will  receive guidance and support from the PTA Board. Art to Remember Co-Chair

This committee helps coordinate the Art to Remember fundraiser, working with the art teacher(s) to coordinate timing and deadlines, as well as communicate fundraiser details to families. Volunteers are needed to process orders as well as distribute ordered items. 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking for a shorter term commitment and some of the work can be done from home. This job takes place between September and December. 

Field Day Chair

This event is held at the end of the school year and is devoted to having fun physical activities outside of the classroom environment with the focus on team/classroom cooperation. This committee coordinates with the physical education teacher in gathering volunteers and needed supplies for the event. 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking for a short-term commitment. Would need to be available the day of Field Day in June. 

Fun Run Co-Chairs

This is one of the PTA’s primary fundraisers. Responsibilities include event planning, soliciting donations for prizes, communicating the event details to students and families, collecting monetary donations, distributing prizes, gathering volunteers for the event, as well as coordinate the students at the event. (September-November) 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get more involved, enjoy fundraising and have time to be at school during the day. This job takes place from September to November.  

Green Schools Chair 

This committee organizes recycling, reusing and reducing activities and projects for Meadow Brook students and staff. Volunteers are also needed to plant the raised garden beds by the playground area in the spring. (

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get a bit more involved, and while projects take place throughout the year, is not a huge time commitment. 

Ice Cream Social

Volunteers coordinate the publicity and ice cream vendors for this free event in late May to welcome new families and provide a fun evening for existing students and families to socialize. 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking for a short-term commitment. Would need to be available the evening of the Ice Cream Social in May  

Math Pentathlon

Run the after-school program that practices math skills and logical reasoning. Games are used to strengthen basic math skills, develop good sportsmanship, and foster creative thinking. Parent volunteers teach students math games and students participate in yearly competitions.

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get more involved and have experience with the Math Pentathlon program. This program runs from October to May.  

Meals on Wheels Chair 

This program involves delivering meals to senior citizens within our local community. This job requires communicating with the RCS Council/OPC contact.  

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking for a small commitment. Would need to be available at lunchtime on Wednesdays for the 2 or 3 delivery dates…or coordinate with someone who can be. 

Motor Moms and Dads Chair 

This program works with students in Kindergarten and 1st grade to improve their motor skills. Responsibilities include creating a schedule of parent volunteers to assist students once a week with fun physical activities during class time. 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get more involved and have time to be at school during the day. This job takes place year round.  

Safe Routes to School

Work with the district Safe Routes committee to find solutions to problem areas around our neighborhood. Coordinate yearly Bike/Walk to School Days.

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get a bit more involved, and while projects take place throughout the year, is not a huge time commitment. 

Spring Carnival Co-Chair 

This is Meadow Brook’s premier fundraising event of the year. It is held at West Middle School in the spring. The carnival chairs coordinate the event (along with several committees), which includes a basket raffle, bake sale, silent auction, games and more. 

**This volunteer opportunity is perfect for parents/guardians who are looking to get more involved and enjoy fundraising and organizing events. Primary planning from this job is January-April.   

Staff Appreciation Co-Chair

Acknowledge the various members of Meadow Brook’s staff throughout the year and coordinate meals and events to thank them for what they do.
